Use Agent Bobby and Robinhood together in ChatGPT

Bobby supplies research, your approved investing policy, recommendation guardrails and the decision journal. Robinhood remains the brokerage connection that owns account data and order execution. ChatGPT can coordinate both after you connect them as two separate apps.

Before you begin

  • You need an active Bobby Pro account and an approved Bobby investing policy.
  • ChatGPT custom-app and Developer Mode availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace permissions.
  • Robinhood Agentic Trading has separate eligibility, disclosures and account requirements.
  • Use ChatGPT on the web for setup. Never share Bobby's private URL or paste brokerage account numbers into a chat.
Step by step

Connect both apps

  1. 1

    Approve your Bobby investing policy

    In the Agent Bobby app, open Settings → Agent Bobby for ChatGPT → Review investing policy. Create or review the policy there. Bobby cannot provide portfolio-aware recommendations until you approve the plain-English summary.

    Create your private Bobby server URL

    Sign in to Bobby's secure console and choose Create private connection. Copy the URL when it appears—it is shown only when created or rotated and should be treated like a password.

    Turn on Developer Mode in ChatGPT

    On ChatGPT web, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and enable Developer Mode. In managed Business, Enterprise or Edu workspaces, an administrator may need to enable custom apps first.

    Create the Agent Bobby app

    Go to Settings → Apps → Create app. Name it Agent Bobby and paste your complete private Bobby URL as the MCP server URL. If ChatGPT asks for another authentication method, choose no additional authentication—the private URL already contains your revocable Bobby credential.

    Review the tools and connect the app. Do not post, screenshot or forward the private URL.

    Create the Robinhood app separately

    Return to Settings → Apps → Create app. Name it Robinhood and use Robinhood's official MCP URL:

    Complete Robinhood's authentication and consent flow. Read its disclosures and verify which account and capabilities you are authorizing.

    Test each connection before combining them

    First ask: “Use Agent Bobby to show my investing policy.”

    Then ask: “Use Robinhood to show my buying power and positions. Do not prepare an order.”

    Finally ask: “Use Robinhood for my current portfolio, then ask Agent Bobby to evaluate VTI against my policy. Do not prepare or submit an order.”

    Keep confirmation separate from research

    Bobby's evaluation is a recommendation record only. If you later ask Robinhood to prepare or submit an order, verify the ticker, side, amount, quantity, order type and account in Robinhood's confirmation. A Bobby approval is never permission to execute a Robinhood order.

A good first combined prompt

Use Robinhood to read my buying power and current positions. Then use Agent Bobby to evaluate VTI against my approved investing policy. Show the thesis, risks, invalidation condition, suggested amount and holding period. Do not prepare or submit an order.
