Options flow, in plain English
The options chain is where conviction shows up with money attached. Here's who's betting what, today.
Or translate any numbers
What options flow tells you
Stock volume tells you THAT people traded; options flow hints at what they BELIEVE. Calls are (mostly) upside bets, puts are (mostly) downside bets or insurance. The call/put ratio compresses the whole chain into one number — and this page translates that number into the sentence it implies.
The traps
Flow isn't clairvoyance. A giant put print might be a hedge on an even bigger stock position — bullish, not bearish. Heavy call buying can mark a top when the crowd piles in late. That's why the translator also checks for unusual activity (new positions vs. recycled ones) and days-to-cover (squeeze context) before it hands you a read.
